Chrysanthemum tónghāo is basil. Annual or biennial herb with alternate leaves, elongated pinnately divided, yellow or white flowers, achene ribs, two or three feet tall, edible when the stems and leaves are tender, and can also be used as medicine. Also known as “Basil”.
